Yahoo and Google Ad Experiment!

For those who haven't heard Yahoo announced on Wednesday that over the next few weeks they will be allowing Google to place advertisements on their SERPs. This experiment will give Google the right to place ads on no more than three percent of Yahoo's search queries.

Yahoo said that they haven't made any decisions on whether or not they will look to Google as their one and only resource for text based advertising.

Even though Yahoo isn't certain whether they will make this partnership with Google permanent, the simple hint of a team-up is enough to throw an interesting twist into the Sunnyvale-based company's efforts to evade unsolicited advances made by Microsoft.

According to the most recent data from comScore, if Microsoft and Yahoo teamed-up they would have total 31 percent market share, which is far less than Google who alone controls 51 percent. If Google and Yahoo end up together it will give the two companies a total 81 percent market share, which is exactly what Microsoft doesn't want to have happen.

I will continue to post on this as more develops.
