More and more you may have started to notice these strange 2-dimension bar codes, known as QR Codes (Quick Response) around in advertising campaigns or on TV. When you see one of these codes all you have to do is scan it (with the QR code application you downloaded earlier) and it will instantly provide you with a plethora of information at your finger tips.
At FGI, we use QR Code on our business cards which will instantly input our contact information into your phone book upon scanning them. However, their greatest advantage in the web development industry is instant brand activation.
Consumers can now directly interact with the brand and have access to promotions or other enhanced features than other consumers may not. More importantly, QR codes communicate more in a single visual than in a whole 30-second commercial or one page magazine advertisement. Additionally, they provide a direct call to action, "scan and receive an exclusive limited time offer."
Here are a few QR code generators to get you started. More next time!
1) Kaywa
2) iCandy
3) Stickybits
