Typography on the Web

Up until recently, the world of typography has been extremely limited on the world wide web. Nice type has been something reserved for graphics that don't need to be edited (images of type), which means the occasional headline or rotating promotion on the homepage. The remainder of the text throughout the site (the large majority) has been set in Arial, or Verdana, or Tahoma, or one of the others from the very limited list of web-safe fonts. First proposed in CSS2, the @font-face style now makes it possible to use TrueType or OpenType fonts on websites.

FGI helps the Port of Seattle celebrate its 100th year

The Space Needle, Pike Place Market and the Piers are all iconic landmarks that make Seattle so beautiful and infamous. This year, the Port of Seattle is celebrating its 100th birthday and FGI was "all aboard" for making a memorable website worth commemorating.

Portseattle100.org features a 21st century time capsule by employing an interactive flash map and timeline. Each port on the map is highlighted and directs viewers to discover images, stories and the history of all the Seattle Ports from the past to present day.

FGI Welcomes Guy Borgford!

Here at FGI, there is a new face walking around the office. We are pleased to welcome Guy to the Treehouse as our new VP of Strategy! With every New Year, comes change and Guy has already stepped up to the plate by introducing the team to the new 2011 marketing plan. And from the looks of it, we can expect big, new changes for FGI that we couldn't be more excited about.

He's been a Senior Copy Writer, Marketing Director, Creative Consultant, eCommerce & Creative Strategist, not to mention a social media, SEO/SEM and advertising guru.
